Originally introduced during the Depression, the Red Velvet cake's source of color was boiled beets. Times have changed, it is still red, but not from beets. Red Velvet is popular all over(especially in the South) and now you may enjoy it in a pie. This is a dense filling, full of flavor and complimented by the semi-sweet chocolate pastry.
